Why Teens Are Especially Vulnerable

Social media companies are now under pressure to reform their strategies of intentional addiction. Chatbot developers should take that lesson seriously.
Fierce competition between AI firms drives the push to maximize engagement. Addictive behaviors—flattery, endless affirmation, illusion‑spinning—are not accidental; they’re market strategies. Individual companies are reluctant to change tactics for fear of losing competitive advantage.
